    Anyway, a few months ago, my sister's company forced everyone to return to the office. Their official excuse was that employees were less productive from home, plus all that nonsense about 'synergy' and 'office culture'.

  • My sister has actually started doing that. She told me she has updated her resume and already has 2 interviews scheduled for next week.

  • lamNotTheMama Pre-pandemic we were all in the office 8 hours a day. FYI: I write software. At the end of the day my laptop got sotred in a locked cabinet in the office and I went home. When we went WFH I had my office setup at home (duh) where I also worked 8 hours a day. But, if I thought of an issue | would saunter over, turn on my monitor and fix the problem / contact the person who was 6 timezones away (or 11.5 the other way). So, in what situation did the company benefit more? Exactly.

  • AZ_RV_CPL Work to rule. It's the company's chance to see if they're coming out ahead. I know if I had done the same the company would lose a minimum of 5 hours a week of work that I wasn't charging them for. And my productivity was pretty much double due to not being interrupted throughout the day to respond to face to face inquiries, discussions and meetings with or from staff that interrupted my work and delayed the completion of tasks. So much wasted time at the office.
